Lalique, René

René Lalique (1860-1945) can be regarded as one of the most important goldsmiths of all times. His work is innovative, artistic and technically perfect. He was very succesful around 1900 with high end Art Nouveau jewellery but also with production of glass works around 1925 in the Art Deco period. It is very rare for one artist to excel in two art movements so opposed.
